FAQ
What's a credit?
One credit = one take. Hit Analyze with 3 takes selected and you spend 3 credits. Simple as that.
What's a take?
A take is one repaired output reconstructed from your source recording. Frankenbites might be easy or rough — you'll know when you need more options to make it work.
Do I need to edit it?
Yes — Frankenbiter gives you a much cleaner starting point, but you'll still shape it. The difference is it'll sit in your timeline far more naturally than what you started with.
How do I choose how many takes?
Right inside the plugin — set it to 1, 3, or 5 before you hit Analyze. Start with 3 if you're unsure. More takes costs more credits but gives you more to work with.
Do credits expire?
Never. Buy a pack, use it at your own pace. No monthly pressure, no use-it-or-lose-it.
How do I know how much I have left?
The plugin tracks your credit balance, so you always know when it's time to top up.
What if I'm using both boom and lav in my edit?
Easy! Select all the tracks that you want to use as the source — we sum them up inside the plugin and make sure there is no clipping. You'll get one composite audio file that matches the sound of your multiple tracks!
Why does it process in the cloud? Can it run locally?
The models that power Frankenbiter are computationally heavy — running them on your studio machine would block your session for longer than it's worth. For now, processing happens on dedicated servers so results come back fast and your rig stays free to mix. We're actively working on a local processing option and plan to roll it out as the models get leaner and host machines get the horsepower to match.
How does it work in Media Composer?
To properly treat a frankenbite you need to render out the edit so that you can apply a plugin on the entire section. The plugin will default to 1 take since that's all that MC can handle — if you need more takes, just apply it on more clips and render it there. If you have an idea how to make the MC workflow better please let us know! We want to make your life easier!
